What the audit does
- You paste your public shop address (for example etsy.com/shop/YourShopName) on the homepage.
- ListingLab asks Etsy's official API for every active listing in the shop: title, tags, description, views and favourites.
- It works out your shop's average views and favourites, counting only listings that have been on Etsy for at least 14 days.
- Every listing goes into one group, so the ones that need help are at the top.
How listings are grouped
- Fewer views than your shop average. Fewer all-time views than your average listing, or none yet. Start here: shoppers are seeing these less than the rest of your shop.
- Views, few favourites. At least your average views, but no more favourites than average. People look and move on, so the photos, price or description are the likely problem, not the search words.
- Doing well. At least your average views and more favourites than average. Leave these alone.
- Listed under 14 days. Too new to judge, so they are not compared yet.
There are no made-up scores. You see each listing's own numbers next to your shop's.
What happens after the audit
Pick a listing and ListingLab rewrites it: a new title, all 13 tags and a description, built from a live Etsy search for the same product. The rewrite page shows how your old listing and the new one do against Etsy's title and tag rules (titles up to 140 characters, 13 tags of up to 20 characters each, no word used twice in the title). You copy the new words into Etsy yourself, so nothing changes in your shop until you choose. The listing optimizer page explains the rewrite step in detail.
Sign up free to keep the audit in your dashboard. After you rewrite a listing, the dashboard follows its views so you can see whether the change worked.
Before you change anything
An audit tells you where to look, not what went wrong. Check Etsy's own Stats page for where each listing's visits come from. If a listing gets almost no visits from Etsy search, its title and tags are the place to start. If it gets visits but no favourites or sales, start with the first photo and the price. Our guide to why an Etsy shop is not getting views walks through both cases.
Want to check one title or set of tags right now, without signing up? The free title checker, tag checker and listing checker use the same rules.
