How it works
- Paste your Etsy shop link on the homepage. The free shop audit lists every active listing and shows which get fewer views than your shop average.
- Pick a listing. ListingLab works out what the item is and searches Etsy, through its official API, for listings of the same product.
- It reads the titles, tags and categories of those listings and counts which tags they share.
- It writes your new listing from that, keeping your own product details: what it is made of, sizes, personalisation.
- You review it and copy the title, tags and description into Etsy.
What you get for each listing
- A new title. The item first, under 15 words, written as one natural phrase rather than a string of keywords. That follows Etsy's own advice for titles.
- All 13 tags. Each one up to 20 characters, each a different search, and phrases rather than single words, so they cover searches the title does not.
- A full description. An opening that says what the item is, then the details a shopper needs before buying.
- A rules check. Your old listing and the rewrite side by side against Etsy's title and tag rules, so you can see what changed and why.
- On Pro and above: a photo shot list and a short social video script for the same listing.
An example
This is an illustration of the kind of change the optimizer makes, not a real customer's listing.
Before: “Perfect Gift Necklace | Name Necklace | Personalized Necklace | Gift for Her | Free Shipping”, with 5 tags.
After: “Personalized name necklace in sterling silver, dainty custom script pendant with chain”, with all 13 tags filled, including the gift searches that were crammed into the old title.
The new title says what the item is in 12 words, drops “perfect” and the shipping words (Etsy advises against both), and stops repeating “necklace”. The phrases it lost move to the tags, where each one counts as its own search.
When a rewrite will not help
New words fix one problem: Etsy not matching your listing to what shoppers type. They will not fix a listing that shoppers find and then skip. If a listing already gets plenty of views but few favourites or sales, look at the first photo, the price and the reviews first. The audit puts those listings in their own group so they are not mixed up with the ones that need new words. Our guide to why an Etsy shop is not getting views covers both cases.
Try the free checks first
Not ready to audit the whole shop? Paste one listing into the free listing checker, or check just the title or the tags. They use the same Etsy rules as the optimizer, with no signup. When you are ready for the rewrite itself, it opens from your audit in the listing optimizer.
